What Voonix don't want you to know about StatsDrone
Welcome to this post!
You’re probably here because you might have searched in Google for StatsDrone but noticed a sponsored ad for Voonix. Voonix is one of our competitors (see our other comparison for Voonix vs StatsDrone article) and they are bidding on our own brand which is very flattering but I’d prefer they didn’t. I did ask someone at the company to stop and it was seemingly off but on Friday June 14th, 2025, it went back up and only on mobile.
My name is John Wright and I’m the CEO & Co-Founder of StatsDrone.
I’ve been in iGaming and affiliate marketing for over 20 years and I’m passionate about Business Intelligence in affiliate marketing. I’m also passionate about helping affiliates as I’ve done affiliate coaching since 2010.
I’m so passionate that I started the Affiliate BI podcast (listen on Spotify) where I’ve been fortunate to interview some amazing people like Lily Ray, James Dooley, Niels Zee, Matt Diggity and many more.
I also write a weekly newsletter on LinkedIn which you can read it here.
Ok so let’s get to the point. You were searching for StatsDrone for a reason but Voonix wants your attention. They probably don’t want you coming to check out StatsDrone especially if you are an iGaming affiliate.
Let’s hear it from our customers first
Many StatsDrone users have either tried Voonix or once were customers of theirs before. Many of ours will go on the record to say they are happy with StatsDrone but not all of them want to openly state who’s the better of the 2. If you want these referrals, I’d be happy to introduce you to some of them and I’ve been asked for this before.
Accuracy
So which software is more accurate? My answer is that StatsDrone is more accurate because it was one of the core principles we built the app on that was non-negotiable.
Our accuracy starts with my Co-Founder Darrell Helyar who took a lot of time understanding the nuances of affiliate data and reporting. So when it comes to customers reporting accuracy issues, we don’t just shrug our shoulders and say that is the way it is, we go out of our way to solve it whether it takes 5 minutes, 2 hours or 2 days.
In many situations, we have often found bugs in the reports and given feedback to the affiliate program or affiliate software that we found some errors.
Over 1800 affiliate programs supported
At the time of writing this article, we have over 1800 affiliate programs integrated into StatsDrone. By comparison, I checked Voonix’s public database and found under 950 affiliate programs. Voonix lists their database by brand whereas we list ours by affiliate program which can have 1 or more brands.
Just a note on pricing, at StatsDrone, our prices are based on program connections, not brands which is how Voonix calculates their pricing.
Onboarding, so much easier with StatsDrone
Many customers tell us they worry that it will takes as much time to onboard with StatsDrone as it does with Voonix.
That is definitely not the case at all.
When you connect a program with Voonix, you must connect all brands one at a time. With StatsDrone, all brands and campaigns are pulled automatically. So if you have a new brand showing in your report, StatsDrone will show your new brands and campaigns without having to do any manual work.
The only manual work you need to do with StatsDrone is to optionally tag your accounts, brands and campaigns.
We have the ability to bulk import your accounts with credentials or your API keys.
Our secret weapon is the King of Onboarding: Darrell Helyar.
Dynamic variables and postbacks
Since July 2024, we have launched dynamic variables in our system and we have quite a few customers that have onboarded us for this feature.
As of January 2025, we have added postbacks too.
I’ve heard that Voonix offer a postback solution but I don’t see much about it on their website. I know they made an announcement at the London Affiliate Conference in Feb 2024 but the only thing I can read about it is at voobackr.com website.
Advanced dataviz
I’ll be honest here, inside our app, our dataviz isn’t pretty and Voonix definitely is one of the leaders in this area.
Where I will say I think we have the edge is with helping customers export their StatsDrone data into a custom database and connecting this with Tableau. Actually you can export your data with Looker Studio and Power BI dashboards.
We have a full time Tableau dashboard builder in Lynda Salem who’s built a lot of amazing custom BI dashboards for our customers.
I’m sure Voonix are always working to improve their product but I’ll tell you that we are also working hard in this area with aspirations to be the market leader.
Customer service
I’ve not tested Voonix’s customer service myself personally so I can’t say much about it.
I can say that customers that have switched from Voonix are quite pleased at the attention we give them.
Our service can be helping fix accuracy issues, adding programs and the best feedback we love is feature requests.
StatsDrone currently has 12 people full time and all of us are tech, data people and programmers with no sales team yet.
If you have tried Voonix, then give us a try and let us show you how much we care about you.
Wait, what about Changelog?
If you haven’t heard yet, one of our newest product launches is called Changelog which is a feature where we help you identify changes that happen in your affiliate data.
I won’t share more other than tell you a short story that our Head of Product, Joe Hatch, recently helped an affiliate recover 150k Euro using this feature.
Pricing
We have adjusted our pricing a few times over the past 2 years but think we have settled at something we think is reasonable. Overall, our approach isn't to have less customers that pay a premium but rather to get StatsDrone into the hands of more affiliates that need our help. It is part of our mission statement and it is why we have recently launched a freemium version of our app that allows you to connect 30 affiliate programs.
The difference in the freemium plans between the 2 companies is as follows.
Voonix allows you to use the software but up to €4,000 monthly revenue.
StatsDrone allows for up to 30 affiliate program connections WITHOUT setting a revenue limit. The reason why we don't have a revenue limit is because we can't see your data.
Something about Acroud
Acroud is the parent company that owns Voonix. Acroud runs an affiliate network and they run their own affiliate sites as well. Btw, we sold our affiliate sites 4 years ago as we want to be ultra-focused on one thing and not compete with our customers.
On May 23rd, 2024, Acroud published their Q1 report and I was surprised to read a paragraph in the opening statement by Acroud CEO Robert Andersson.
Here is what he wrote in one of the opening report statements:
In our Software as a Service (SaaS) segment, Voonix, an industry-leading platform used by many large affiliates, has implemented a new sales strategy. In response to emerging low-cost competitors offering basic functions similar to Voonix, we have opted to provide Voonix for free to small affiliates. This approach is designed to eliminate competition effectively and create a robust pipeline of growing affiliate partners whom we can later convert into premium users. The initial feedback has been encouraging, although it's still too early for a definitive assessment.
Don't get me wrong, I do personally feel bad that Robert Andersson has had to reduced his salary by 100,000 EUR annually. That said, his salary reduction alone is still 30,000 EUR more than what StatsDrone pays myself and my co-founder combined for our yearly salaries. We do this so we can reinvest money back into StatsDrone and hire more developers so we can build the best app on the market.
Rising tides lift all boats
Personally, I think competition is healthy and I do not have aspirations to eliminate the competition. There is plenty of business to go around for everybody and simply put, I still strongly believe that too many affiliates are not using tools like StatsDrone, Voonix, Routy, Affcollect, Affiliate Access (not, this is not Income Access although it has a similar name with a logo like Cellxpert) and Nifty Stats to collect and organize their data.
Tools like ours are essential for helping affiliates not just save time, but avoid revenue leak by spotting when accounts, brands or campaigns crash to zero. It is this very moment when affiliates should react and remove tracking links to dead brands, closed programs or ones that start to under-perform.
If anything, I’m personally excited to see others on the market such as CatStats, Affiliate.ai, CPV Lab, Affilimate, Lasso, We Can Track, Trackonomics and Affluent.io.
As competitors, we should be able to say how we are different or how we think we are better than others. There is nothing wrong with that.
With that said, I’d still like to see Voonix stop bidding on our keywords because it is driving up the cost of our customer acquisition and I’d rather spend the money somewhere else than give it to Google.
PS anybody on the Voonix or Acroud team is more than welcome to be a guest on the Affiliate BI podcast.
Voonix vs StatsDrone, who’s better?
I say don’t ask me, ask customers that have used both and make a decision of who you would like to try. Just FYI some of their customers listed on their testimonial page have switched to StatsDrone.
Until then, my job doesn’t change and I want to be the most helpful person in the affiliate marketing space. If I want you to believe that John Wright is a thought leader in affiliate marketing, I have to earn that right by showing up every day. I do this by publishing a podcast once a week and the Affiliate BI newsletter.
Victory for me for 'eliminate competition effectively', it is making affiliates happy and helping them do their job better.
